Fresh Fridays: Seeing Green

It appears that everybody on our Etsy Street Team is feeling green, perhaps it is the lack of white outside. Who would imagine that in January we would be seeing green in Rochester, where is all the white stuff anyway?

So, the turtle notecard isn't green but could be. All of these fresh finds and many more beautifully handcrafted items can be found on Etsy.

Thanks to Karen, Heather, Marie, and Amanda

Keep on the look out for the latest and greatest from the RNEST Etsy Stret Team every Friday!

Treasury Tuesday: Where Winter Turns To Spring

Our RNEST members have been curating and featured in so many treasuries lately, that I've had to make the decision to picture one, and then link to the rest. So you'll have to click through to see them!

I love how FuzzyBunny makes the visual transition from "winter" to "spring". Appropriate since it finally seems to be warming up a bit around here! And the greens remind me of St. Patrick's Day coming up this week!

Curated by RNEST Members:
  • Can You Say Scherenschnitte? by Buenahelena - "Fabulous paper cut outs with a fabulous to pronounce name." Inspired by a conversation at last night's RNEST meeting about the difference between Scherenschnitte and Kirigami.
  • Lovely Things I Can't Afford by KiraArts - Items I would love to buy if I suddenly found myself ridiculously wealthy...and some that I simply can't justify spending the money on myself. Does anyone else ever feel silly when they click that "favorite" button when they know they will never be able to afford the item?

* If you make or find a treasury that features an RNEST member, or if you are an RNEST Member who makes a treasury, post the link on the wall at RNEST's Facebook Page. Your treasury could be featured on the next Treasury Tuesday!

Fashion Fridays: Week Two: Spring Green!

In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, I went on the lookout for something green that would work well in our current season of transition.

Spring has sprung at MaticStudio! You'll be the envy of everyone at the St.Patrick's Day parade in this gorgeous hand crocheted cowl by Leah Moerschel.

I have always had an affection for happy colors and this green is one of my favorites. Maybe it is the way it compliments my red hair but I feel like more and more people are confident in their love of color and I say go for it!

Who wouldn't feel good when they are wrapped in something bright and cheery!

Treasury Tuesday: Peeps, Chirps, & Hoots + Light My Fire

It's a Double Treasury for today's Treasury Tuesday! Our RNEST members have all been compiling so many awesome treasuries lately, I have a hard time waiting until the next week to feature them! So this week I decided to feature two! They don't feature exclusively RNESTers, but each treasury does have at least one RNEST member featured. (Can you find them? Leave a comment!)

This first treasury is by Casey of PeachesProducts. I love the colors. And all the bird imagery reminds me of Spring (oh sweet Spring...please come back soon!)

This second firey treasury by Brandi of Bmeg makes me either wish I had a fireplace...or makes me want to listen to The Doors. "Come on baby, light my fire..." ;)

Treasury Tuesdays: Under $25 Gift Guide (Going Green)

We're still giving you Under $25 Gift Guides here on Treasury Tuesdays! Last week's color theme was red...so this week I'm giving you an Etsy Treasury in the other traditional Christmas color...green! Although these shades of green seem to have a bit more of a spring green feel to them than the dark evergreen associated with winter. But there are still some great items that will make you feel cozy. And maybe thinking of warmer seasons will help warm you up as well!

Jack's Pick: Duncan Creative's Crochet Necklace

Each Friday I select an item created by a member of the Rochester NY Etsy Street Team(RNEST). What criteria do I use? I look for great looking items that I think are well made offered for a great price!

So I am used to crochet scarves. Hats and gloves, yup...got 'em. But I have to admit, crochet NECKLACES are a new thing to me. I'm sure they have been around, but I'm not usually following
the crochet scene. But the Lavender Fields Crochet Necklace that was handmade with love by karenswimmer of Duncan Creative
looks awesome and novel to me.

So I'm a dude, and probably wouldn't wear this one, but I still think this kicks rear end. Why? Function...that's
why. Maybe you are the kind of person who likes to wear scarves in the winter...hey...I do! But come summer, you got to put that stuff away...too hot. Well a gem like this crochet necklace is perfect...still get that soft look, but not all that heat. I dig that. Next is style...it looks sweet, and who else you know who is rocking this look! Also, you don't have to mine all the gold, silver, and rocks out of the earth to have this accessory.

Karen, if you make one of these for a dude, I might wear it myself. Oh yeah, and one more thing, in July Duncan Creative is having a buy one get one half off sale, so grab a couple of these yarn bombs.

Jack's Pick: Chai Soap by FuzzyBunny

Each Friday I select an item created by a member of the Rochester NY Etsy Street Team(RNEST). What criteria do I use? I look for great looking items that I think are well made offered for a great price!

This week I bring you Chai soap made by FuzzyBunny!

I love Chai tea. All those flavors just feel so cozy. Chai to me is a warm blanket. What a relaxing way to
enjoy a bath or shower with that smell of chai. The only problem with this is I might want to eat the bar before the bath time is over.

Not only do I like the flavor of this soap, but I like what Fuzzy Bunny stands for. From Fuzzy Bunny's profile on etsy:
The Fuzzy Bunny began as an experiment in sustainability. We use only vegan ingredients, a soapmaking process that results in no waste, and local botanicals as soap additives. We strive to create enjoyable natural products while minimizing our impact upon the earth.
Fuzzy Bunny gets her name from her two rabbit compainions,
Lenni and Oxtoby.

Great work Fuzzy Bunny!!!
